Registered Clinical Dietician

Our registered dietitian is involved in every aspect of resident care that relates to nutrition. Each resident is seen upon admission for a full assessment which includes weight and diet history, and religious and cultural needs and preferences. The dietitian is an integral part of the interdisciplinary team and works closely with the physician and nurse practitioner to determine the most appropriate nutritional diet or tube feeding for each resident. For example, residents with wounds are assessed to determine if added nutrients are needed to promote healing. Speech and occupational therapy work along with the dietitian to determine residents' needs for adaptive equipment or modified diet textures. In addition, the dietitian collaborates with the food service manager to plan seasonal menus with resident input.
